IS IT DIFFICULT TO LEARN THE GUITAR?

Contrary to what many people think the guitar is not a difficult instrument to learn. When taking lessons with me students can choose to learn the style of music they are most interested in. They will be guided in that direction using a well thought out original guitar learning program created to provide the necessary technical knowledge with ease. Beginning students will need to learn the basics before fully going onto the style of music they would like to play but not for long. I will try to provide the student, while they are covering the basics, with some easy material related to the style they are interested in. It makes the learning process more interesting.

Learning to play the guitar is not as difficult as some might think but be prepared to put some work into practicing to obtain the results you would like to see, especially at the beginning when the fingers need to learn how to move effectively. Some students might want to just learn to strum a few chords to accompany songs while others might want to get more involved with the complexity of a particular style such as Classical, Flamenco or Jazz. I work with every student in every style!

DOES THE STUDENT NEED TO LEARN TO READ MUSIC?

To be able to read music is always a plus, especially if you are planning to become a professional musician. I encourage the student to learn it regardless of the musical style chosen. Although I do not recommend learning to play guitar using tablature (numbers) I do make use of it in certain situations to help the student learn a  piece of music when there is not a clear understanding of reading music notation.

Students can choose to learn any style of music. I teach everything from classical to rock including Flamenco and Latin music in general. Beginners, intermediate and advanced students are welcomed. Lessons can be started at any time. Each lesson has a duration of 45 minutes but longer or shorter sessions can be arranged at the student's request. Workshops and group lessons are also available.

If you would like to be notified about future workshops or group lessons, please send me an e-mail. For the person taking individual lessons I recommend to book at least one lesson a week. It is easier and more productive for the students to monitor their progress when lessons are done weekly. If there is an interest in learning a different style of music other than classical, please don't hesitate to contact me.

THE WAY I TEACH AND WHERE I TEACH

I offer private guitar lessons in different musical styles including Classical, Flamenco, and Rock. The lessons can take place at my studio in Kendall or at the student's place. I offer guitar lessons in Kendall, Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, South Miami, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, Brickell, Miami Beach, and other areas of Dade County.

If traveling to my studio to do the lessons or taking them at home is not convenient for you there is always the available option of taking online guitar lessons via Skype/Zoom or through pre-recorded videos. Beginners, intermediate and advanced students of any age are welcomed.

Taking guitar lessons is a commitment of time and money. I encourage everyone who is starting the lessons to make the most of their learning experience. Discipline, commitment, and enthusiasm are the key elements needed in order to reach the proficiency playing level you would like to achieve. Teaching is a rewarding and important part of my profession as a musician. I am pleased to provide instruction to anyone interested in learning to play this popular yet complex musical instrument. I invite you to review my experience as a Performer/Teacher/composer on this page Biography

WHAT DO I TEACH AND HOW DO I TEACH

Beginners or experienced guitarist will receive the same undivided attention and help at learning the guitar or improve his/her existing level of playing.

Once the beginner student has gone through an introductory stage about how the guitar is built and how it produces the sound I will continue the lessons by showing the correct way to hold the guitar and sitting position. From then on, it is learning how to move the fingers over the fretboard with the use of simple exercises designed to help develop coordination for both hands.

While learning to move the fingers the student will work on short melodic excerpts based on the style of music they are most interested in learning. The short melodies will be adapted to their playing level. You can see on this page some of my teaching videos with some students. You can also preview some of my video lessons here

LESSONS PACKAGES AND PAYMENTS

I offer 3 different lesson time durations. The student can schedule 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1-hour lessons. I personally recommend the 45-minute length of time. A lot can be accomplished on a 45 minutes lesson. I suggest booking one lesson a week (maximum 2) to speed up your learning progress. All lessons are one on one but arrangements can be made to have two or three students at the same time.

The payment for the lessons can be done on a per lesson basis or by paying in blocks of 4 lessons in advance. When paying in advance for individual lessons (blocks of 4 lessons) I offer a discount on the rates. By paying in blocks of 4 lessons the student is also guaranteed the same weekly schedule if requested. Group lessons (workshops) have a different cost.

For the person taking individual lessons I recommend to book at least one lesson a week. It is easier and more productive for the students to monitor their progress when lessons are done weekly. If there is an interest in learning a different style of music other than classical, please don't hesitate to contact me about your musical interest. I teach every style of music: Classical, Flamenco, Brazilian, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Latin American music and popular music in general. All lessons will take place at my studio in Miami unless other arrangements are made.  For more details about the cost of the classes at your home or at my studio, you can reach me at 305-903-7844 or send me an e-mail  Contact
